The next democratic presidential primary debate will be held this Thursday, December 19 from Los Angeles, starting at 7:00 pm Central Time. Since people are busy with the holidays, we made a decision at our December meeting of the Madison County Democrats that we will not be having a debate watch party for this particular debate. It will be aired on PBS and CNN, so hopefully you can enjoy it from your couch at home or with another candidate-specific party. More information about the moderators and which candidates will participate can be found here.
The January debate will be hosted by CNN in partnership with the Des Moines Register, to be held on the campus of Drake University on January 14th. Watch for upcoming announcements about this as we might have a watch party or an opportunity to attend as a group (we have no information about that yet).

A series of mock caucuses will be held in the Winterset Library meeting room in January. These are intended for precinct leaders and volunteers to practice setting up and running a precinct caucus. We encourage you and/or your team to attend at least one of these sessions:
- Sunday, January 5th, 2-5pm
- Saturday, January 11th, 4-7 pm
- Thursday, January 16th, 6-8:30 pm
Our January meeting of the Madison County Democrats Central Committee is scheduled for Thursday, January 23rd. Our location will be verified soon. Likely we will be back at the Sports Page Restaurant in Winterset. Prior to the meeting, please read through the minutes from December. Please note there is some good information in there about the upcoming caucus, including a list of all locations by precinct and basic organization guidelines. I will also break this out in future messages.
Attention Campaign Staffers
If you would like the Madison County Democrats to help promote a local event, or if you’d like to attend one of our monthly meetings, please read our Candidate Promotion Policy. Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you during this exciting race!
